Liberator DSL Network Simulator

Broadframe Launches World’s First ADSL Network Simulator

Austin, TX USA – September 11, 2000 – Broadframe Corporation announces the world’s first complete ADSL Network Simulator. The Broadframe Liberator is a powerful compact unit that allows developers to connect into a "simulated Internet" to develop, test, and demonstrate their ADSL products over a network in a controlled environment.

"Users need a complete network to ensure that their products work in real networks," said Mike Trujillo, Broadframe's President. The Broadframe Liberator provides a complete network by simulating a DSL network from the phone jack, to the phone company, and into the Internet.

"Without Liberator, development teams are forced to spend weeks kludging together carrier class equipment to simulate an ADSL network. They discover that their expensive solution is not portable and can not be adapted as DSL technology evolves", said Trujillo.

The Liberator ADSL Network Simulator can be set up in 30 minutes, weighs in at 9 pounds, and replaces three complex network elements: DSL Access Multiplexor (DSLAM), Service Node, and Internet Server.

Integrating these three network elements in Liberator yields the simulated Internet over an ADSL line. Users can develop, test for performance and interoperability, and demonstrate products in a reliable network with guaranteed bandwidth and no configuration or line allocation worries.

The Liberator platform has a modular architecture so that other DSL/broadband technologies can easily be added to meet market requirements. New DSL chipsets can be supported in the Liberator unit by replacing a small interface card. Software binaries may be downloaded into Liberator to support new development tools or the latest network protocols.

The Liberator User Interface provides easy access to network and systems configuration, ADSL link performance and statistics, and updates the Liberator unit with new binaries.

Applications

Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) developers can use Liberator for network development, performance testing and interoperability testing.

Marketing and Sales Managers can use for portable demonstrations at a customer site or tradeshow.

Liberator is also ideal for field testing or quick verification of modems and other CPE equipment by Test Engineers and Field Technicians.
